Easter Egg Puzzle

Quarantine and Craft must continue. Its Easter Friday today and we are under 24-hour lock-down.  Its a holiday and no beach party in the foreseeable future until this virus is under control. Oh the joys of island life! Beaches less than a half hour away and cant go.

The task for today find an Easter Craft that can occupy my girls for at least an hour! Is it even possible?

Onto the Silhouette Design Store.....

I found this lovely design by an artist called Sophie Gallo. An Easter Egg puzzle! Perfect!

Let's Get to it ...

After downloading the design , it's automatically synced to your library.

Open the file and lets prepare it for cutting. the first thing I did was use the trace option in silhouette to trace the entire shape. I set the threshold to max until the whole shape was filled with yellow then traced outer edge. This will provide a background for our puzzle which will help little ones with solving.

Once  I created the background, it was time to sort out the color pieces and prepare for cutting.
I separated the puzzle pieces by color and then used the rectangle tool to draw a box around each group.

The rectangle helps me estimate how much paper I need for each group. This is a nice way to use scrap paper from previous projects.

Once I have situated my pieces on my mat. I can send to cut. I like cutting multiple colors at once as shown below.

After cutting out the pieces I  realized my kids needed a little more help than I thought. I brought out the sketch pens and decided to sketch the outline of all the pieces as an additional  guide. I used a sheet of glossy white paper and left it whole to serve as a puzzle mat.

Finally I let them have ago at it. On second thought I may do another one in white and have them decorate each piece.

Thank you for following along. Hopefully  I see you in the next post. Leave a comment below giving me any advice on how I can improve the blog.
