Sew Kute: Episode 1
Baby Alive Outfit Part 1 : Leggings
My daughter owns a rather scruffy looking baby alive that we got for her on her sixth birthday. During the lockdown in our country I was scrambling for activities to balance out school as well as occupy a six and a two year old.
For my very first Sew Kute Episode I scoured the internet looking for baby alive sewing patterns. I was pleased to find the following pattern from a website called Lelesdesigns.com.
She has a range of patterns for Baby alive and I plan on using all of them to complete some matching outfits for my girls' dolls. I decided to start with the leggings.
She is kind enough to provide video instructions to almost all of her patterns. I will provide a link at the end of this post.
Firstly, download and print your pattern from the site. Cut it out from a stretchy fabric ensuring that the most stretch is across.
Once your pattern is cut, head to your machine. Make sure you use a stitch that will stretch with your fabric. On my machine I have a range of SS (Stretch-Stitch) options. This will allow you the finished garment to stretch when being put on or taken off. Crucial for little girls constantly changing doll clothes.
Line up your pieces RST and stitch from the waist to crotch. I used grey thread for contrast.
Open your leggings out and pin the waist and bottom seams. This will just add a finished look to the leggings.
Stitch using 3/8 seam allowance and clip extra threads. We are almost there hang on!
Repin your fabric RST and pin along the back seam from waist to crotch. Sew using a 3/8 seam allowance.
Open the seam and pin from edge to edge across the crotch. One stitched. You can turn your leggings right side out.
I was able to make three pairs of legging from scrap material I had lying around.
Please share your creations if you decide to try this and ensure you leave a like on her video which I will link below.
Next episode I will detail the top and shoes.
