Krafted With Love!!!

I needed a cake topper for a watermelon themed upcoming first birthday. A quick venture into the realms of google provided some suitable samples. An even quicker venture into my usual craft supply store armed with mask and hanitizer (thats what we call it now, no going back lol) to get some glitter foam.

Check out my Youtube video of this project

Glitter is ALWAYS AN OPTION.

I was able to put this together in about two hours. The longest part for me was setting up the design but thanks to the handy trace tool in silhouette I was able to do so easily. If you would like the file let me know so I can link it below.

I use the Basic version of silhouette which handles all my projects pretty well. I eventually want to upgrade to the designer version which has additional features.

Here is my design all grouped and ready for cutting.  I then separate according to color and material.

For the back I used black cardstock. The lettering was too fine in that it had too many delicate curls. I decided to add an offset in white which gave it structure and dimension.

From there it was just a matter of piecing the design carefully with some adhesive. I used liquid glue applied with a small paintbrush.

I then added two bamboo skewers cut to six inches each. pointed ends down  for easy application to a cake. I also added an additional layer to the back to sandwich the sticks.
